After graduating from Lethbridge College in 2000, Obed went on to receive his Bachelor of management Degree from the University of Lethbridge, then continued on to achieve his Chartered Accountant designation. A lifelong entrepreneur, Obed has always sought opportunity by improving the traditional ways of doing things. Even in junior high and high school, when Obed was told he couldn’t do things a different way, he would ask “Why not?”

This “why not” philosophy would follow Obed into his career, and it quickly became apparent that he wasn’t happy with the old ways of doing things. Obed could always see opportunities to automate, enhance, and refine processes. Improving the customer experience for his clients became Obed’s passion. In 2011, Obed founded Maxim Management, one of Canada’s first virtual accounting firms. He could see that the accounting industry needed to improve the client experience, but he didn’t want to wait for it to happen – he wanted to make it happen.

In 2018 Obed merged his practice to join forces with Avail CPA. As a partner at Avail LLP, Obed is leading the accounting industry into the future and changing the way the profession is viewed. Much of his work today is centered around using technology and innovation to improve people’s financial wellbeing.
